LinkedIn Post
Hook Generator.

The first line decides whether anyone reads the second one. Get 10 opening lines in different styles - contrarian, story, stat, question, list-tease.

Your topic

One paragraph is plenty. The clearer the topic, the sharper the hooks.

10 opening lines

Fill in the form and click Generate. Your output appears here.

How to use the result

  • Pick 2-3 that genuinely sound like you. Reject the rest.
  • The hook is the only sentence visible before "see more" - front-load tension or specificity.
  • Keep it under 120 characters so it doesn't truncate mid-thought on mobile.
  • Test the same post idea with two different hooks a week apart.
  • If a hook needs the next line to make sense, that's the goal.

The styles, in plain English

  • Contrarian - picks a fight with conventional wisdom.
  • Story - opens mid-scene, no setup.
  • Stat - a specific number that doesn't feel made up.
  • Question - a real one, not rhetorical.
  • List-tease - "5 things…" without the 5 yet.
  • Confession - admits something the reader has felt too.
faq

Quick questions.

What makes a great LinkedIn hook?
It earns the "see more" click without lying. Tension, specificity and the absence of throat-clearing. If the first 8 words could open a thousand other posts, rewrite it.
Should I always use a contrarian hook?
No. Audiences exhaust on contrarianism. Mix styles - story and confession hooks build long-term trust; contrarian and stat hooks spike reach short-term.
How long can the hook be?
LinkedIn shows about 210 characters before the "see more" fold on desktop and 120-140 on mobile. Aim for one sentence that fits both.
Will these sound like AI?
Some will. Reject those. The ones you keep - edit so the specifics are real. AI gives you the shape; you give it your evidence.
Where do I learn more about hooks?
The Chrome extension's "Suggest comment" feature uses the same engine for comment openers. Or browse the ScrollStop blog - there's a 4C-loop deep dive that breaks down what makes a hook compound.

Hooks in your voice?

The extension knows your phrasing, your evidence, the kind of opener you actually write. Free.
